The next generation of the AV industry is not content to merely exist, it is taking the lead.
When we started the 40 under 40 initiative back in 2019, it was to shine a light on young talent in our industry. It was also to nudge the industry into giving young people an opportunity within the AV world. New this year is a dedicated 40 under 40 website, the aim of which is to create a lasting, year-round resource that showcases every class and their achievements, while also providing a home for our partners who help us celebrate excellence, inspire participation, and support professional growth across the industry.
The standout theme this year of the class of 2025 has been what a leading role many of these young people are now taking within their businesses. They’re not present in AV businesses just to fulfil menial tasks because their youth means they aren’t trusted to take on more significant tasks. They’re driving sales initiatives, they’re merging several teams into one and leading that new team themselves. They’re overseeing the implementation of procedures making their business more efficient and more profitable.
At a time when the global economy is volatile, these decisions are making a real difference to the bottom line. Our class of 2025 are leading multi-site installations, dealing with the logistical headache of sourcing equipment from around the world, handling permanent and freelance staff expertly to make sure jobs are completed on time and on budget. They’re adopting a client-first approach, delivering exactly what the client wants, and guiding them through the process, from first designs to project sign-off and staff training, so no investment in AV is ever wasted or kit is sat gathering dust.
Reading their inspiring bios should give us all heart that the AV industry is in safe hands, because they are determined to make the world a more productive, more efficient and more collaborative place to work.
